BASPARE (Mouth piece of ney)
Baspare: That is an item which is lathed with different diameters and put upper part of the Nay to get clear sound.
Used Materials: Baspare, which is actually needed to be produced from horns of water buffalos, is produced from some other materials due to lack of the original material that can not be obtained in enough amount and dimensions. Our workshop uses –as it is wished- horn or a special material which is the nearest to physical structure, hardness and tone of horn. Sizes: Our Baspares have 6 different Baspare bottom (Part that is put to reed) diameters as 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 millimeters. 18,19,20,21 mm –measured- Baspares’ mouth diameter is 16,5 mm and 22, 23 mm –measured- ones’ mouth diameter is 17mm.
Tone Features: Inner reservoir depth and needed smoothness are carefully provided in our Baspares. Because, smoothness and brightness of baspare, which conveys breath to the voice box, provides a clear and bright tone.
Outer form of Baspare: We deal with getting the nearest Baspare form to the average form also caring about that each Neyzen prefers a different Baspare form. Outer form of Baspare has a smart appearance. Its cheek slope and smoothness is made with care because of letting lips provide a comfortably performance on Baspare.
Baspare and Voice Box: The part of Baspare which is put to reed is opened cylindrically. The most sensitive part of Nay, the voice box (1st node of reed) should completely be put in the cylindrical bottom part of Baspare. Because of that, the part that our Nays touch to Baspare is thinned with Baspare foot thickness measure (1mm). Consequently, the set which is because of the part of the Baspare that is put to reed is put away and breath is changed into voice (NEVA) without coming across to any set in voice box.
